Tayfen Court Lifestyle

A jewel in the crown of Suffolk

There’s a reason Bury St Edmunds is regularly voted as one of the happiest places to live in the UK. Surrounded by countryside, this market town offers 1,000 years of colourful history and interesting stories, along with the best of modern-day living.

Restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes

Bury St Edmunds is known as Suffolk’s foodie capital. Fine dining restaurants are in abundance; firm favourites include Maison Bleue, 1921 and the Michelin-starred Pea Porridge. New restaurant Lark serves seasonal small plates, celebrating local ingredients.

There is an excellent array of shops, from high street favourites to unique independent stores. The Arc, an open air complex, offers more shopping opportunities, along with restaurants aplenty and The Apex, a multipurpose entertainment venue that attracts renowned comedians and musicians.

The twice-weekly award-winning Bury St Edmunds Market is a delight. Held in the Buttermarket and Cornhill, it is almost as old as the town’s Abbey and is host to over 60 stalls selling local produce, vintage clothes, plants and more. Towards the end of the year you can also head to the cathedral to enjoy the annual three-day Christmas Market.
