Weston Homes Hosts Successful Art Event Featuring Susanna Wallis’ Solo Exhibition at Abbey Quay Community Hub in Barking

Weston Homes is delighted to announce the resounding success of Susanna Wallis’ captivating solo art exhibition titled ‘From Source to Confluence’, the first public event held in the new Community Hub at Abbey Quay which is now available to hire for events.

Susanna Wallis is a renowned artist with deep roots in the Barking community. Her diverse portfolio reflects her passion for storytelling, community engagement and celebrating the rich heritage of her surroundings. From illustrations to sculptures, Susanna’s artwork captivates audiences with its intricate details and heartfelt narratives.

The Community Hub, nestled in the heart of Abbey Quay, served as a focal point for creativity and community engagement throughout the exhibition.  A series of engaging events were held from VIP receptions to immersive art therapy sessions and school visits. The exhibition provided a diverse range of experiences for art enthusiasts and the local community alike.

Susanna Wallis’ artwork, spanning illustrations, textiles, mixed media and sculpture, captured the essence of the River Roding’s journey from its bucolic origins to its bustling confluence with the Thames. Notable highlights included Susanna’s recent commission by Weston Homes for the Abbey Quay development.  A series of sketches depicting local life that are displayed in the communal corridors, reflect her ongoing collaboration with Weston Homes and her dedication to celebrating local landscape and heritage. For Susanna, the exhibition marked a significant milestone in her artistic career, representing years of dedication and passion for storytelling through art. Her deep connection to Barking and its surroundings imbued each artwork with a sense of authenticity and reverence for the local community’s history and heritage.
