Olympic double bronze medalist launches westbury grove

Max Whitlock, Team GB’s Olympic double Bronze medallist and local gymnast launched Weston Homes’ latest luxury property development in Letchworth, Hertfordshire, last night (Thursday, 25 October).

The Olympic hero, who picked up two bronze medals at the London Olympic Games, officially launched the development; a stunning conversion and restoration of a disused school building, first built in 1929.

The unique development comprises 38 converted and new-build houses and apartments, that offer luxury and style to homeowners and investors in Hertfordshire, one of the country’s most sought after counties.

Max Whitlock’s special appearance comes as a result of his close affiliation with the developer, Weston Homes, following the company’s support during his Olympic training prior to the Games this summer.

Bob Weston, Chairman and Chief Executive, Weston Homes, comments: “It’s an absolute pleasure to have Max here to launch Westbury Grove. We were proud to support and cheer him on during the Games and we were delighted to see him take bronze, not once but twice.

“Our team of experts and designers have spent significant time in ensuring that the building’s heritage and architecture is reflected in the interior design of the apartments. It has been a pleasure to help bring this wonderful building back to life for it once again to be enjoyed by the local community.”

Westbury Grove was once home to a local primary school and has been brought back to life with careful attention to detail and the finest fixtures and fittings to complement the building’s charm and heritage.

Letchworth, a historic town that can be found in the heart of the English countryside, has a fascinating past and is the first established ‘garden city’ in the world – whereby a town or city is surrounded by countryside and greenbelt land.

The unique ‘garden city’ concept was created by the renowned Ebenezer Howard and was used by architects Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin to design Letchworth in 1903.

Howard’s ‘garden city’ concept became extremely popular with town planners and architects alike and was later adopted in towns and cities across the world, including Canberra, the capital of Australia and Hellerau in Germany,

The homes at Westbury Grove are decked with high quality walnut or oak flooring throughout the hall; lounge and dining area. Bedrooms come with a choice of luxury carpets and fitted wardrobes to the master bedroom. Beautifully designed kitchens are fitted with stainless steel and ceramic fixtures giving every kitchen a modern, light and airy feel.

Residents at Westbury Grove are a short walk from the area’s The Broadway Pub and Hotel, cinema and Letchworth Golf Club that is renowned for its tight fairways, mature trees, cross bunkers and fast greens.

Westbury Grove is conveniently located and is just a 12 minute walk or three minute drive away from Letchworth Garden City Station – which has a direct route to London King’s Cross. Commuters can be in either the Capital or Cambridge in under 30 mins – making Letchworth an ideal location for office workers who are based in the City, but like to enjoy the area’s formidable green land and countryside.

Letchworth has great transport links; the M25 is just 20 miles away and Luton Airport 13 miles away – linking residents to the rest of the world.

Prices range from £139,995 to £234,995. For more information, contact Weston Homes on 01279 873 300 or email westbury.grove@weston-homes.com or visit www.weston-homes.com/westburygrove
