Max named Essex Sports Personality of the Year

Bob Weston, Managing Director and Founder of Weston Homes, extends his heartfelt congratulations to Max Whitlock following his win at the Active Essex Sports Awards 2012 held last week. Whitlock won Essex Sports Personality of the Year after successfully competing in the Olympic Games and winning the hearts of his supporters.

The prestigious annual ceremony, which was hosted in Colchester, saw outstanding sportsmen and women recognised for their contribution to an inspiring summer of sports. Whitlock, 19, who trains at the South Essex Gymnastics Club, was a prominent member of Team GB’s gymnastics team at the Olympics where he helped make history by securing a bronze medal in the team final – the first men’s team medal since 1912. He also claimed the bronze medal in the pommel event.

Bob Weston, Managing Director and Founder of Weston Homes, comments: “Weston Homes is so pleased to be associated with Max as he not only made Olympic history – he has left a legacy for sporting excellence in Essex. It comes as no surprise that Max has been awarded Sports Personality of the Year – I have found him to be very modest despite his great success and talent. Max, you’ve made your sponsors, coaches and family very proud. Well done.”

Weston Homes has been a long-time proud supporter and champion of Max Whitlock, having provided essential support to the athlete and seeing him through years of disciplined training, frayed nerves and, finally, well-deserved success.
