Weston Homes Tee Off With £90,000 Raised For St Clare Hospice At Annual Golf Day

Weston Homes have raised £90,000 for St Clare Hospice at their annual charity Golf Day at Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf and Spa in Colchester, Essex. The Hospice based locally in Harlow, cares for those with terminal illnesses, and provides support to loved ones who have been affected.

Teams of four took part in the Golf Day and competed across 18 holes, with the best three scores counting towards the final result. The winner of the competition was property law firm, PCS Legal, who celebrated at the evening of food and entertainment laid on by Weston Homes afterwards.

The event held in September by Weston Homes for St Clare Hospice marks the 16th year in support of the charity. The hospice cares for those with conditions including respiratory and heart disease, Parkinson’s, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, end-stage dementia and cancer.

St Clare Hospice works one-to-one with the person affected with a terminal illness and supports their whole family, offering a wide range of services, providing physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual support. The hospice receives a limited amount of NHS funding, with the majority made up in donations and voluntary funding.

In April of this year, CEO and Chairman, Bob Weston opened The Taylor Centre, a new purpose built support facility on the site of the Hospice, which he donated half of the build costs to. The centre houses all the support services needed to run the hospice, ranging from fundraising, human resources, finance and call centre facilities.

Bob Weston, CEO and Chairman of Weston Homes commented “We are delighted at the success of our annual charity Golf Day, and to continue to fundraise and provide support to St Clare Hospice. I’d like to extend my thanks to everyone who helped to organise, and those who attended the day. It is our hope that we can continue to raise awareness for this great cause, and make next year even more successful.”
