St Clare Hospice 22nd Annual Golf Day

This year’s St Clare Hospice 22nd Annual Golf Day will be held on Friday 9th September 2016 at Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf and Spa.

2016 is a year of milestones in the long-standing and strong relationship between St Clare Hospice and Weston Homes. It marks the 16th year in which Weston Homes’ annual golf day has been hosted in aid of St Clare, with the funds generated from this ever-popular event totalling more than £635,000. This incredible amount has been vital in helping us to care for thousands of people with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones across West Essex and East Hertfordshire.

Not only this, but in April of this year, Bob Weston opened The Taylor Centre, a brand new purpose-built support facility on the site of St Clare Hospice. Weston Homes so generously funded over half the total build cost of £820,000 with an army of contractors voluntarily undertaking work on the building. I know many of you who were involved are supporting the golf day this year. The building is named in memory of Bob’s business partner, Richard Taylor, who was cared for by St Clare when he passed away in 2013.

The Taylor Centre will enable us to accommodate our support services, fundraising and retail teams on the Hospice site, whilst also providing vital clinical storage facilities. It allows our expanding day therapy, family support and community services room for growth within the Hospice building. These are all vital clinical services which have rapidly grown over the past five years, and will continue to do so, meaning we can be there for even more local families in the coming years.

It is true to say that much of what we do would not be possible without the support of loyal friends like those of you here today. The invaluable support of Weston Homes means that as demand for our services grows, we can continue to be there for every person who needs us. Words will never be able to do justice to the thanks which we owe to you, and all our supporters who make our care possible – thank you.

I hope you have an enjoyable day on the golf course and thank you on behalf of our patients and their families for supporting today so generously.
