With plentiful green space, regeneration on the cards and a half-hour commute into the heart of the capital, Feltham is a town that house-hunters looking for great value for money should have firmly on their radar.
There are exciting regeneration plans on the table for this west London outpost, and Weston Homes is an early adopter of the potential to be found in TW13.
Work is well under way on the developer’s multi-million pound Manor Lane scheme of just over 100 contemporary apartments, conveniently located just off Feltham’s busy high street and a relaxed 10-minute walk from Feltham station.
That walk will take you past some of Feltham’s wide choice of restaurants, shops and supermarkets, its modern shopping centre, and also Feltham Green, a particularly pretty spot with its duck pond and memorial to singer Freddie Mercury, who grew up nearby.
Trains from Feltham to Waterloo take from half an hour. For longer journeys – and to access the long-awaited new Crossrail Elizabeth line – Heathrow airport is less than three miles to the north, while the M3 motorway is a 10-minute drive away.
The importance of green space has come into sharp focus since the pandemic and Feltham has plenty of it, in the shape of Hanworth Park with its cycle tracks, tennis courts, football and rugby pitches, plus St Dunstan’s Park, offering a children’s playground and running track, and also Crane Park, a nature reserve with a network of ponds.
For families, the vast majority of local schools hold at least a “good” report from Ofsted, the schools watchdog. Several are considered “outstanding”, including primaries Edward Pauling, Feltham Hill and Cardinal Road, while for seniors, The Heathland School also gets top Ofsted marks.
The town centre has a cinema, a bowling alley and a multi-sport leisure centre, along with rugby and football teams. Slightly further afield, the wilds of Bushy Park are a 15-minute drive away, you could hit the shops and cafes of Richmond, or enjoy a day at the races at Kempton Park.

REGENERATING FELTHAM
Around the time of the Domesday Book, Feltham was a tiny rural hamlet. It grew with the arrival of the railways in 1848.
Along with new homes it became an Army stronghold and industrial hotspot, producing everything from fighter planes to trams. Many of these sites are now ripe for redevelopment, particularly when the Ministry of Defence moves out next year.
Hounslow council has long-term plans to harness these sites to upgrade Feltham town centre with more than 3,000 new homes, new public spaces and parks, community gardens and allotments.
It also wants to encourage more cafes and restaurants, street markets, festivals and other events, and upgrade cycling and running facilities, making Feltham a healthy and fun place to call home.
