You’re Hired! – 23 new recruits embark on their career path with Weston Homes’ 2022 trainee scheme

This autumn, 23 new recruits, from various educational providers such as Anglia Ruskin University and Chelmsford College, joined the Weston Homes Trainee and Apprenticeship Scheme. The scheme further expands the Weston Homes workforce and provides funded university or college education alongside on-the-job practical training to trainees. The trainee roles include Accountants, Buyers, Sales Managers, Surveyors, Architectural Technicians, Marketing Assistants, Site Managers, and a Sustainability Consultant.

The 2022 recruitment drive is part of Weston Homes £2.5 million investment in training over the next three years. The company plans to recruit similar numbers of trainees in 2023 and 2024 in order to deliver the company’s £2.13 billion (GDV) development pipeline. Over the last five years Weston Homes has recruited 47 trainees across a wide range of departments and the company is proud to confirm that 75% continue to progress their careers across the company.

The recruits completed a week’s induction which provided them with a thorough understanding of Weston Homes. The extended programme is made up of introductions and presentations, team building exercises and visits. To Weston Homes’ developments. Each trainee is provided with a buddy to support them further as they embark on their new journey within Weston Homes.Established in 1987, Weston Group currently employs over 520 people across the group including over 300 people at Weston Homes. Over the last five years (2017-2021) Weston Homes has purchased land sites that will deliver £2.13 billion (Gross Completed Value) worth of residential and mixed use development across outer London and the South East which includes 20 current active sites and over 7,500 new homes in the pipeline including traditional housing and large scale urban regeneration projects.

Projects include the £350 million Abbey Quays urban village in Barking, the £60 million Grade II listed Cambridge Military Hospital in Aldershot. the £500 million 10.4 acre Lorimer Village in Goodmayes, the £50 million Town Quay Wharf in Barking, the £53 million Victoria Central in Southend-on-Sea and the £85 million The Laundry Works in Watford.
