Multi award-winning new homes developer, Weston Homes, is delighted to announce a strategic partnership with Sage Homes to launch the sale of 136 affordable shared ownership apartments at Edward Point, Abbey Quay. These apartments include a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom homes, providing a range of layouts to suit diverse needs and preferences.
Abbey Quay is a new £350 million (GDV) 6-acre riverside urban village providing 1,089 new one, two and three bedroom apartments of mixed tenure, the majority with their own private balcony or terrace and all including Weston Homes’ fully inclusive specification, alongside 22,281 sqft (2,070 sqm) of commercial and leisure spaces for a new pavilion restaurant, local shops, cafés, residents’ hubs and community hub. Abbey Quay is complete with pedestrian promenades, tree-lined avenues, stunning vistas, public artwork and large areas of landscape gardens.
England’s largest provider of newly built affordable housing, Sage Homes are helping to address the housing crisis by providing affordable homes to those most in need, providing Shared Ownership homes (part buy, part rent) to buyers across England.
Using the Shared Ownership scheme at Edward Point, Abbey Quay, prospective buyers can purchase an initial share percentage of the property, typically ranging from 25% to 75% of the full purchase price. The minimum share purchased will be based on the maximum affordability for each buyer. Prices start at just £295,000 meaning a 25% share is available for as low as £73,750 with a 5% deposit of £3,688. Rent is then paid on the remaining share of the property. Buyers can choose to buy more of the home when they are ready (called ‘staircasing’) up to 100%. The bigger the share the buyer purchases the less rent they pay.
Abbey Quay is ten-minute walk away from Barking Station, providing direct connections to Fenchurch Street in 15 minutes and Canary Wharf in 17 minutes.
Central to life at Abbey Quay is the Residents’ Hub, with its concierge service, comfy seating areas and flexible leisure spaces. This is where residents can work on their laptops or meet with friends and colleagues. The Community Hub is a new public space available to residents and the wider community for hire.
This partnership with Sage Homes is part of Weston Homes’ ongoing commitment to making homeownership accessible and affordable. By offering shared ownership options, Weston Homes continues to support first-time buyers and those looking to step onto the property ladder.
