Weston Homes Launches New Reading Riverside Apartments In London’s Western Commuter Corridor

Reading Riverside is located a short 10 minute drive from Reading railway station which has recently benefited from a £900 million upgrade to add extra platforms and minimise congestion. It connects the town to Paddington railway station in less than half an hour with over 200 trains per day, to Waterloo railway station in 90 minutes, to Heathrow in 58 minutes and to Gatwick in 75 minutes. With commute times quicker for those that live in Reading Riverside than for those travelling within London, Reading Riverside offers an unprecedented opportunity for those who want to live outside the city but who also need to regularly commute into it.

The impending 2019 Crossrail will further increase Reading’s connectivity to London. The town will be the most westerly station on its Elizabeth Line allowing Reading Riverside residents to arrive directly at Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Liverpool Street and Canary Wharf without changing between train and tube.

To coincide with the launch, Weston Homes are unveiling a new show home for perspective buyers alongside the one, two and three bedroom apartments at Reading Riverside. Each apartment will have a fully fitted, open plan kitchen/living/ dining area with a private balcony/ terrace and a master bedroom with an en suite and fitted wardrobe. For selected two and three bedroom apartments, residents will have the option of a secondary balcony/ terrace or a door leading from one of the bedrooms to the balcony/terrace leading from the kitchen/living/dining area. Selected apartments will also have a second en suite bedroom.

Each apartment at Reading Riverside will be built with Weston Homes’ signature high specification. The fully fitted designer kitchens will have Zanussi integrated appliances, a choice of units by Oakwood Kitchens and quartz worktops and upstands, as well as a Fascino stainless steel sink with integrated removable chopping boards and an instant boiling tap.

All bathrooms and en suites will be finished with RAK ceramic basins and porcelain tiles to the walls and floor, as well as a Fascino digitally controlled Smart Tap and Smart Mirror with LED lighting, shaver socket, digital clock and de-mist pad. The walnut vanity unit will add a smart touch to the bathroom and will also provide integrated storage space and a black porcelain worktop. Each bathroom will also have a Fascino Smart shower or bath as well as the luxury of a heated chrome towel rail.

The apartments at Reading Riverside also come complete with forest oak internal doors with polished chrome ironmongery, matching wrapped door-ling, architraves and skirting. Residents will have the choice of white oak or ebony oak strip wood flooring to the entrance hall, living area, dining area, kitchen and cloakrooms as well as a choice of carpet to bedrooms. All master bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and there is also Sky Q television and telephone points to the master bedroom and living area.

Throughout the apartments there are gas fired radiators and for safety and security each home is fitted with a smoke alarm and CO detectors as well as audio/visual entry system and double-glazed uPVC windows.

For those who prefer to drive, Reading Riverside is well connected with three major motorways within close proximity. From the apartments, the M4 is a seven minute drive, the M25 is a 35 minute drive, the M40 is a 31 minute drive and the M3 is a 27 minute drive. These motorways connect residents to Oxford in the north, London in the east, Southampton and the Isle of Wight to the south and Bath to the west, making any city or town in the UK within easy reach.

Bob Weston, Chairman and CEO of Weston Homes said:

As the gap between London and Reading closes, both residents and businesses have moved to the town to capitalise on its growth.”

“Reading has been ranked the UK’s fastest growing economy (2017-2022), the second most productive economy in the UK after London and the top area for economic success and wellbeing. The prosperous town has become a very desirable place to live.”

Despite its growth, Reading hasn’t lost any of its historic charm and Reading Riverside residents are able to enjoy the booming economy while living in a quintessential British town. The town was originally founded in the medieval period and the architecture is an interesting mix of old and new. Within close proximity to the Reading Riverside apartments are the historic twelfth century Reading Abbey ruins, the sixteenth century George Hotel, formally a major coaching inn between London and the West Country with atmospheric Tudor archways and a cobbled yard, and just three miles up the River Kennet from Reading Riverside arethe Mill Arches which date back to the 1100s.

For more information on the town’s history Reading Riverside residents are just a short walk from the Reading Museum located in the beautiful town hall. The museum showcases the history of the town including galleries, artefacts, art collections and a stunning Victorian replica of the Bayeux Tapestry.

Despite the old-town feel of Reading, it hosts an abundance of modern high street shops, restaurants and bars perfect for Reading Riverside residents who want to entertain guests or relax after work. Particularly popular with Reading residents are Broad Street, a pedestrianised thoroughfare of eateries and shops, and The Oracle Centre, which has over 90 shopping outlets and an excellent array of restaurants and bars. The town is also home to an 11 screen Vue Cinema.

One bedroom apartments at Reading Riverside start from £249,950, two bedroom apartments start from £359,950 and three bedroom apartments start from £420,000.
