A little bit about the role...

British Offsite are looking for a Machinist to join our Manufacturing team, we manufacture and assemble a range of products from furniture to steel frame Building Panels. Based in our new, purpose built 75,000 sq foot Warehouse and Manufacturing operation in Braintree. 

 

Due to the success of our product lines, British Offsite is looking to increase production in line with customer demand. We are therefore recruiting for a Machinist to join our 6am-2pm shift. This role will be working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

 

You will play a vital role producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment, tooling, consumables and materials.

You will be responsible for...

The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Effectively plans machining by studying work orders, drawings, materials, specifications, machining parameters; interpreting dimensions and tolerance
  • Programmes the CNC machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers etc
  • Maintains specifications by observing the machine operations; checking  measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Prepare and load raw stock materials and parts onto the machines.
  • Supervise the machines while they operate the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a best results
  • To operate and program CNC machines
  • To work to drawings and specifications with the minimum of supervision following training.
  • Any other duties as required, commensurate with this role.

  • Proven work experience of a similar position.
  • Demonstrable and effective knowledge in programming, setting and operating a CNC Nesting Cell, Edgebander or Breton
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.

  • Excellent organisation and efficient time-management skills.
