Idyllic village living
The picturesque village of Mountnessing is a tranquil retreat found in Southern Essex. Surrounded by scenic countryside views, the village is an idyllic place to live.
Mountnessing has a warm welcoming community that centres around the Village Hall with art classes, cycling clubs, bazaars and more. The hall lies within the Coronation Playing Fields, offering sports pitches for use in the summer months, hosting games such as cricket and football as well as Mountnessing Tennis Club with their clubhouse and four all-weather courts.
Mountnessing is distinguished by the impressive Grade II listed windmill that looks over the village from the Coronation Playing Fields. Dating back to 1807, the mill replaced an earlier windmill, with records going back as early as 1477. Other historical buildings of note include St Giles Church, an 11th century building with a charming character and the remains of Thoby Priory, a 12th century church.
The village provides amenities including three public houses, a café, hairdressers, butchers and a primary school.
