Weston Homes’ Chairman and Chief Executive Bob Weston congratulates Max Whitlock on winning bronze medals in the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Team event and Pommel Horse.
The 19 year old gymnast who trains at Basildon Sporting Village, Essex, took his first bronze medal along with his four team mates Sam Oldham, Louis Smith, Kristian Thomas and Daniel Purvis, at Greenwich Arena on July 30th. It was the first time in 100 years that the men’s team have won an Olympic medal. Then on August 5th, Max took the bronze medal in the Pommel Horse whilst Louis Smith took silver.
Max was at the launch of Weston Homes’ Morello Quarter development in Basildon and wowed the audience with a gymnastic display before receiving a £1,000 cheque from Bob Weston to contribute to his travelling costs.
Bob Weston: “I would like to send my congratulations to Max and the rest of the men’s gymnastic team for their superb performance at the London 2012 Olympics. It is great to watch a local boy do so well and I’m sure he will inspire a lot of youngsters to take up the sport.”
“When Max helped launch our development at Morello Quarter with a gymnastics performance, it was clear he had exceptional talent. It has been wonderful to watch Max progress over the years and to see his hard work pay off by receiving these Olympic medals.”
“Max is a great inspiration to young people especially within the local area. He proves that if you have a talent and are dedicated, you will reap the rewards.”
