Colchester United FC’s home ground sponsor Weston Homes has lent its support to the U’s for the new 2009/2010 season which has already proven successful with the team in seventh position in League One.
In addition to entering the second year of a 10-year contract as title sponsor of the Weston Homes Community stadium, the housebuilder has also renewed its shirt sponsorship. Weston Homes support of the U’s is part of a decade long deal worth up to £2million.
Bob Weston, Chief Executive and Chairman of Weston Homes commented, “Already the U’s have proven their worth this season as strong contenders and I am confident their winning streak will continue. Becoming a title sponsor of the team has been a rewarding decision. It has helped make Weston Homes feel like it is a true member of the Colchester community where we have built in since 2005.
“The community means a lot to me personally as my career began in this town which is why I feel it is important to help the town grow and prosper. I wish the team every success and look forward to enjoying the games this season at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.”
Weston Homes has been active in the Colchester community since 2005 when it acquired its first site along Hawkins Road and transformed it into a 158-apartment scheme called QV. Currently only 22 homes remain for sale at the Colne Harbour riverside development and the developer is anticipated to announce the launch of its new development Hawkins Wharf, located adjacent to QV, in the near future.
The housebuilder is part of the parent company, Weston Group, which also owns and operates Colchester Business Centre, which celebrated its first anniversary in January.
