We are delighted to offer our visitors the chance to find out more about the history and tradition behind this exciting new opportunity.
Mayesbrook Manor, formerly known as UEL's Barking Campus, is a location steeped in tradition and heritage. Founded as a centre for education in the 1930s, the campus was the alma mater of thousands of London scholars during the twentieth century. The Mayesbrook site ceased to be part of UEL in 2006, and the University is now located at the nearby Stratford and Docklands campuses, though it retains a partnership with Barking's new Learning Centre.
The building is an impressive 1930s structure with elegant Georgian styling. It also features many original examples of Art Deco decorative design. The central reception area in the Main Building supports an original clock tower, and is flanked by two elongated wings surrounding the central driveway.
Mayesbrook's one, two and three-bedroom apartments are finished to a standard that's sure to exceed all expectations.
Each part of the conversion has been specified to provide comfort and space in abundance, offering residents the freedom to select the furnishings and finish to suit their personal requirements. And with the breathtaking surroundings of the peaceful, formal grounds to enjoy, you'll soon find yourself at one with the Mayesbrook's relaxed, elegant atmosphere. It's situated in an ideal location, with Mayesbrook Park on the doorstep, offering a wealth of amenities including sports grounds and a boating lake.
Other local sites of interest Mayesbrook Manor is in good company as a historical site - Barking is a town with a rich history. Perhaps its most impressive relics are the ruins of Barking Abbey and the grade II listed Curfew Tower, which are all that remains of the Abbey itself.
Also worth a visit is Eastbury Manor House, a beautiful Grade I listed Tudor stately home which is leased to the Council by the National Trust. According to local tradition, it is the house where the Gunpowder Plot was first contrived.
London 2012 - the most spectacular event to be staged in our country for a generation. Mayesbrook Manor is perfectly placed to take advantage of all the entertainments the Olympics has to offer. Just 20 minutes from the main Olympic site and getting full advantage of the improved transport links created for the games, it's the place to be right now.
