Local Area

Canterbury is less than a mile in diameter. This historic city is dominated by the ancient, world renowned Cathedral, home to the Church of England. With origins dating back to 600AD, and much of the present building erected in Norman times, this example of medieval architecture has proved inspirational to pilgrims and visitors for many centuries.

Follow the centuries-old city walls or explore the cathedral; take a trip around the bustling pedestrianised high street, crammed with shops selling virtually everything you can think of.

Travellers are well catered for; Canterbury West railway station is three quarters of a mile, with trips to Canon Street, London, starting from just over 90 minutes, and Ashford, with its connections to Eurostar xx minutes south. The A2, bypassing the South West of the city, takes travellers south to Dover or north via the M2 to the M25 and on to the heart of London.
